About Goethe B2

Goethe-Zertifikat B2 certifies interaction fluent enough that conversation with native speakers is unstrained, and clear detailed text on a wide range of subjects. Grammatically it brings Konjunktiv II and the passive into ordinary use; lexically it opens into politics, science and economics, along with the near-synonym distinctions that separate fluent B2 from effortful B2. Like B1, it is modular.

Who this list is for

Goethe-Zertifikat B2 is a common requirement for professional recognition in Germany, including several regulated professions, and for university preparation courses. It suits learners who follow film without subtitles and read non-fiction without a dictionary but still reach for the safe word. If German is now the language of your meetings, this is the certificate that is recognised.

How to study

B2 German is decided on vocabulary and on nominal style, the noun-heavy register that formal German prefers, so practise converting your own verb-led sentences into it. Read Die Zeit or the Süddeutsche daily and take exact phrasing. Because the exam is modular, sit the strong modules early and keep the weak one in preparation rather than delaying the whole certificate for it.

Where do the words after this list come from?

A list has an end. The words you keep for good usually turn up somewhere else — in a page you read, a show you watched, or a conversation you had — one at a time, and rarely at the level you planned for.

MindDory connects to Claude, Cursor, and other assistants that speak the Model Context Protocol, so a word you meet while you are chatting is saved to your deck as a flashcard without you leaving the conversation. There is no copy and paste, no CSV export, and no browser extension.
