French work and jobs vocabulary

The French words for jobs, offices, contracts and job interviews, each with its CEFR level.

For anyone looking for work in a French-speaking country, or using French with colleagues and clients.

About work vocabulary

Work is a harder topic than food or travel. Most of these words are B1 and B2: salaire, réunion and contrat at B1, entretien, embaucher and licencier at B2. A few, like recruter and démission, are C1.

Who this list is for

Intermediate learners preparing a CV or a job interview in French, and people who already work in French but want the vocabulary of contracts and meetings.

How to study

Group the words by situation: looking for a job (candidature, entretien), the job itself (bureau, collègue, réunion) and leaving it (démissionner, retraite). Write two or three sentences about your own work with them.

Where do the words after this list come from?

A list has an end. The words you keep for good usually turn up somewhere else — in a page you read, a show you watched, or a conversation you had — one at a time, and rarely at the level you planned for.

MindDory connects to Claude, Cursor, and other assistants that speak the Model Context Protocol, so a word you meet while you are chatting is saved to your deck as a flashcard without you leaving the conversation. There is no copy and paste, no CSV export, and no browser extension.
